The third-annual wrestling event, featuring wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestlers, will take place at USB Arena.

Now in its third year, the Forbidden Door is well and truly open this evening. Unlike the previous two events that have seen AEW and NJPW come together, this time Stardom and CMLL are also joining in on the action for what has the potential to be the best Forbidden Door event we've seen.

Heading to New York's UBS Arena, the totally stacked Forbidden Door 2024 card could end up being one of the best wrestling events of the year.

Forbidden Door is always a fun time, seeing the stars of AEW crossing over with wrestlers from other companies. This time it's in the form of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, NJPW's sister company Stardom, and Mexico's CMLL.

Elmont, New York's UBS Arena hosts the 2024 edition of Forbidden Door that, in addition to inter-promotional battles, has a huge AEW vs. AEW contest as AEW International Champion Will Ospreay challenges Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.

For the third time, AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) will co-produce Forbidden Door, a crossover wrestling event showcasing the best wrestlers in each company. This year’s edition will also feature athletes from World Wonder Ring Stardom, the sister company of NJPW, and Mexico’s Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).

The main event of Forbidden Door will feature AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland putting his title on the line against Will Ospreay. New Japan’s top title, the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, will also be up for grabs when champion Jon Moxley takes on Tetsuya Naito. Forbidden Door is always an event where the obvious main attraction is seeing stars from rival promotions locking horns, often for the first time. Despite that, the expected main event this year pits an AEW talent against an AEW talent as AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland defends his title against AEW International Champion Will Ospreay. These two may have clashed previously over the years, but both men are nowadays very different performers and will face off in what could be a Match of the Year contender once 2024 is done.

To focus on the inter-promotional wars, though, Forbidden Door has plenty. IWGP World Champion Jon Moxley is defending against former champ Tetsuya Naito. 'Timeless' Toni Storm will defend her AEW Women's Championship against Stardom's Mina Shirakawa.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and NJPW Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer are both putting their gold on the line in a winner-takes-all contest. Technical wizard Zack Sabre Jr. finally goes one-on-one with 'Freshly Squeezed' Orange Cassidy. The recently-returned MJF tangles with CMLL legend Hichicero. The Learning Tree's Chris Jericho and Big Bill team with NJPW's Jeff Cobb to take on Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook; and The Elite's Kazuchika Okada and Nicholas and Matthew Jackson take on the iconic Hiroshi Tanahashi and The Acclaimed's Anthony Bowens and Max Caster.

Keeping the crossover vibe going, New Japan's always-great El Phantasmo is up against Jack Perry, Mark Briscoe, Dante Martin, Lio Rush, and Konosuke Takeshita in a six-way ladder match for the vacant AEW TNT Championship. Forbidden Door rounds out with a potential show-stealer as Bryan Danielson takes on Shingo Takagi in the first round of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament.

But that's not all, for those eager to tune in and check out the Zero Hour Pre-Show will be rewarded with a further four matches, stretching the Forbidden Door card out to a mammoth 14 contests.

The most notable Zero Hour bout sees the women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament commence as Mariah May takes on her fellow English grappler Saraya. Keeping the Forbidden Door crossover vibe going, the Zero Hour also has Yota Tusji, Titan, and Hiromu Takahashi taking on Rey Fenix, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Mistico; Kris Statlander teams with Momo Watanabe to face Willow Nightingale and Tam Nakano; and Saturday night's AEW Collision had the announcement of Private Party vs. House of Black vs. Kyle O'Reilly & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Roderick Strong & Gabe Kidd.

The Forbidden Door swings open as All Elite Wrestling joins forces with other promotions in New York on Sunday. AEW and NJPW co-promote their third annual Forbidden Door pay-per-view featuring representation from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and World Wonder Ring Stardom.

 A champion vs. champion showdown headlines Sunday's card as Swerve Strickland defends the AEW world championship against reigning AEW international champion Will Ospreay.

Forbidden Door's other noteworthy matches include Bryan Danielson and Saraya competing in the men's and women's Owen Hart Cup tournaments, respectively, plus a winner-takes-all title match between AEW's Mercedes Mone and NJPW Strong champ Stephanie Vaquer. MJF returns to his beloved hometown of Long Island, Jon Moxley defends the IWGP world title and legendary Japanese rivals Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi find themselves on opposite sides of a trios match.

There are some huge matches set to take place at Forbidden Door. The main event will feature Swerve Strickland defending the AEW World Championship against AEW International champion Will Ospreay. Jon Moxley will defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Tetsuya Naito. A title for title match will see TBS champion Mercedes Mone take on NJPW Strong Women's champion Stephanie Vaquer.

Swerve Strickland defends the AEW World Title against AEW International Champion Will Ospreay. They have competed against one another many times, from CZW, Progress, and other promotions. From the start of their careers to now, they have elevated their games. The main event will feature two talented wrestlers looking to hold one of the most important belts in wrestling.

This is my first time being on the main card for Forbidden Door, and I’m doing that as world champion and headlining it, Strickland said via AMNY. We both complement each other, the goals we still want to accomplish, we still want something, we still want more - and we push each other to want to be better.

Mercedes Mone and Stephanie Vaquer compete in a "Winner Takes All match for the AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women's Titles. Mone was close to winning the latter belt last year before getting injured and now looks to be a double champion against a woman she has a history with in Vaquer.

Zack Sabre Jr.'s buddies were looking to soften up his Forbidden Door opponent when Haste and Eagles took on Cassidy and his partner for the week, Ishii.

OC waved off Eagles and wanted to start against Haste, who was concerned that Cassidy had something illegal in his pockets. Before anything significant could happen, Ishii tagged i and started trading strikes.

This match was a combination of comedy moments and short bursts of offense. There were times when everything was clicking, and there were times when it felt like everyone was taking it too easy.

Most of what we saw was executed well, but it felt as if everyone was just following a blueprint. Nothing felt spontaneous or surprising. It had it's moments but won't be anybody's Match of the Night.

Deeb was booked in a match against a local talent this week and made an example out of her with a quick, dominant victory. She demanded competition on her level and a returning Riho came out to confront her. They didn't fight, but it's clear this was the start of a mini-feud.

Throughout the show, Chris Jericho was shown giving random people backstage advice. He and his friends were attacked by Hook, Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata. Jeff Cobb showed up to save Jericho and revealed himself as the third man for Jericho's team at Forbidden Door.

Hechicero had an exhibition against Kevin Blackwood, who Excalibur noted is a training partner of Daniel Garcia. They traded holds and takedowns for a moment before the luchador took control.

Garcia was giving up a lot of size and power, so he tried to use his speed to stay out of Butcher's grasp. It worked for a little while, but the powerhouse eventually got the upper hand.

AEW has made Garcia look like one of the toughest competitors whether he wins or loses a match, so seeing him go toe to toe with a guy twice his size didn't feel out of place like it would have when he first arrived on the scene.
